engine starts, but dies after 5 min

I have finally gotten my 90 vert rebuild running. The engine will start and will idle at about 3500 rpms then it will drop down to around 1000 rpms. This is what I thought it would do. The problem is that it bounces between 1000 rpms and 2000 rpms and I can not give the car gas to make it rev up at all. Then after a couple of minutes it will just die, and not restart for a while. What is going on, I have had the injectors cleaned, replaced the fuel filter. Could this be the fuel pump?

check the TPS first off, that may be why you're getting the 1000rpm as the lowest point of its idle (should idle at 750)

You may also want to check the wiring and plumbing to the BAC since you still have the cold start hooked up. (at least Im assuming so since you stated the 3000rpm at initial start up)
