Unhappy Engine smoke at startup, only shortly, losing coolant

Ok so i recently dropped a brand used motor into my fc3s because i had a serverely blown oil seal in my other motor.. this one is a trip... when i first installed it it smoked bad for a few minutes, took forever to start... sometimes would kill the battery trying... Now it usually starts pretty easily, when it doesnt it blows white smoke until it starts then clears out pretty quickly... someone told me my water seals might need to reseat themselves or expand back into place or something since the motor sat for a good while before being ran again.. the engine will not exceed 3850rpm which as i understand is most likely secondary injector problem... I'm losing less coolant now, but still slowly losing it... any advice?? its an NA motor in my 87 fc3s... once it gets driving... no smoke... or even after a little bt of idling... any advice would be great even though Ive laready gotten a good idea.. i wanna see what else it may be... thanks again!

wouldn't be much since it doesn't take long to determine where the coolant is going.
