Engine Shut off. Help??
1987 Turbo II
No emissions, air filter, RB full exhaust, upgraded rad.
Driving into work this morning, I started the car like I always do and it ran fine.
Got about 3 miles up the road and I lose all power as my car starts to die. (Feels like an intercooler pipe had blown off, massive vaccum leak after the AFM. Press gas pedal, engine bogs)
Now I was at a max of maybe 3-4 k the whole time. Right before it died i heard the turbo get really loud (like a blown off IC hose) when I accelerated just a bit to shift into 5th.
after that like I said lose all power and pull off to the side of the road.
Pop the hood....No IC pipes leaking from what I can tell. Just for ***** and grins I retighten the one that always comes off. nope no start.
Look around a little more to find my O2 sensor wire is cut and resting on my turbo. UH OH.
Well I cut the connectors off out of desperation and twisted them together to see if it would start. No luck.
Right now I'm at a loss as to what it could be. There is no change in the engine's cranking sound that I noticed. (I should know I've had 2 blow up on me) and when the motor stopped making power it didn't go violently (like the other 2) I just kinda stopped making power.
I'll have to go do a compression test after work. My question is, could I have shorted out my ECU if the O2 wire touched the turbo/block?
