Engine runs too rich, Turbo wont kick in and car bogs down
OK, I decided that I would start small when upgrading my 88 Turbo II. I was going to replace the stock intake with a cone air filter. The only problem was when I was disconnecting the air flow meter from the plug, I bent up all of the electrical plug on the air flow meter. So I had to get a new air flow meter. All the ones that I got from local car parts stores did not work at all-they were rebuilds. So I got an air flow meter from another Turbo II RX7-this one was stock. But after I put it on my car, it still doesnt run.
My car ran perfectly fine before I made this mistake, and I'm willing to bet there is something minute that I am missing here. Now the car hardly runs at all, and when it does, it runs very rich. Rev it up too quickly, and instead of the TUrbo kicking in, it bogs the entire car down. What is up with this? The only way my car will run is if I very easily accelerate all the time, if I push it too hard, the entire car bogs down. I have been w/o my car for 3 months now, and I'm glad that I found this website. I would appreciate your help.

Are you sure the harness you are pluging into the MAF is in good shape, making good contact? Did you clean it? Are you getting boost leak? Might have a boost leak somewhere.. so when the boost starts to come one.. the MAF measures air that is being leaked before it gets into the engine.
Search for methods of how to find a vac leak, could just spray around with carb cleaner and listed for idle change..
Good luck.

sounds like the AFM isnt working right, obviously, lol... clean up the connections and ****, and make sure to retrace all the steps you went thru when you took it off, make sure you got it all hooked up right... eh or atleast it's a start? or maybe just fix the old one, couldnt be too hard?
