I am rebuilding my 181,000 mile 87 GXL engine and have a couple questions. What rebuild kit do you recommend, price wise and performance. I was thinking about doing some minar porting myself so what do I port??? Intake, anything in thr rotor housing???? Is a fuel PD needed??? I heard of a couple guys not useing them.. I plan on running 550cc primary injectors and 640cc secondary injectors. I am useing a RB header into 2.5inch pipe into a high flow cat to the y pipe then a 2.5 inch y pipe into dyno max bullet race muffs. I am also going to remove AC ect. run perf pullies and a HKS intake. I am also going to run around 75-100hp shot or NOS. Does this combo sound good???? How fast should my car run???? I intend doing this by my self as a learning experience and taking my time with it. I appreciate all the and info I get from you guys.(and gals)

I don't have a gxl, but I just put the engine back into my car today.
Look at the mazdatrix website www.mazdatrix.com. Under engine parts you'll find a rotor rebuild kit. Its a good 877.00 dollars or something, but if you're serious then there you go. Also get the full gasket set-$167.00

as far as the exhaust goes, I am not sure. I am just runnin Raceing beat header pre silencer and 55 mm exhuast y-pipe package, with a k@n intake. So I'll let you know what I think when start driving it.

You could always call mazdatrix and ask them what exhuast would be best.
