Engine Mount Clarification

for those who have replaced their engine mounts can you help me clear up some stuff on how to remove em and put some new ones in?

i have the haynes manual and it says put the car on some jack stands then put the jack underneath the oil pan with a big block of wood then lift it to take off the pressure from the mounts unbolt the mounts and take it off that easy?

That sounds about right! I've never done it before but I don't see why that method wouldn't work. Just do one at a time though (like take one off, then put the new one on, dont take them all off at once). I wouldn't want my engine being entirely supported by the oil pan (CRUSH!!)!

Ah.. new mounts feel so nice. Make sure you really crank-em down too. I mean REALLY crank em down. Tighten the top nut down almost as hard as you can withuot breaking the stud. It compreses the rubber a little bit more, and it definately makes things feel tighter. It's just one of those little free "tricks".

You may need to loosen your tranny mount to get enough space to remove and replace the mounts too, but yep it's just that simple.

If you do not want to support the engine with the oil pan. Then jack up the engine with the transmission.
