Engine Misfiring

Had my friend mechanic take a look at it and he said my trailing coil pack isnt firing. But I did a search and read that the tach shouldnt be working as well if Im not getting any spark from the trailing coil pack. My tach is working properly. Please advise...

Here's a brief description:

Right now...my car has less power. Its misfiring when idle and when you rev it high.

It all started last week when my gauges stopped working( except for the speedometer). The car would lightly sputter too and sometimes the engine would die on idle. Fixed the gauges just by replacing the fuse. The car isnt sputtering anymore and holds its idle but it doesnt pull as much as it did before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
