I know the Haltech is powerful but for the hassle I think I would still go with the Power FC. I can connect with my laptop to it also and load maps and change any setting on the computer as well as use the commander to make changes and monitor most all functions of the car while driving.
The price difference is not that great and there is not a neccesity of a laptop for the Apex unit. Just my opinion.
