engine light and fluctuating idle

engine light and fluctuating idle
when the car is idling the check engine light is on...when i press the gas it turns off then on when i let off. also my idle fluctuates between 1k and 1500 rpms, what would cause this??

This is caused by the TPS being out of adjustment or bad. IF you pull the engine codes it will will be the TPS narrow range. We have a how-to on our website for pulling codes and their corresponding meanings.
