Engine died! Please help!
Hi mates,
My 13BT has about 20,000kms on it only, with very good compression so I really don't believe my engine is blown. Here's what happened though:
I was travelling at about 100km/h on the highway yesterday, everything was normal....till i heard an eletric sounding "PIAK" noise from the engine bay. My music was too loud, so the noise was pretty faint.
Immediately after, my RPMs suddenly dropped from 3000 to ZERO! Funnily enough though, my engine was still running! The exhaust note was clearly audible still, but I had no throttle response at all! So I let the car flow to a halt as I headed for the shoulder lane.
Upon stopping, the engine died on me, and the usual centre cluster of warning lights came on. I tried starting it again but it cranked but didn't fire up!
Anyone here familiar what could be my problem?
Thanks!

Start with a compression check.
If you don't have a tester, pull the trailing (upper) spark plugs.
Pull the two fuses nearest the engine on the left strut tower (to shut off fuel).
Listen to the compression pulses as you crank the engine.
They should all sound exactly the same in sets of 6.
If compression is all strong and even, then check fuel pressure & spark.
