i was driving down the highway and my engine died. it didnt overheat and all fluids were at proper levels and no smoke came out the tailpipe. i need some advice on what to look for.

 

Basically, the engine needs fuel and spark in the combustion chamber to run. Check for those first. If you don't know how to do that, find someone who does.

Maybe if you describe exactly how the car behaved when it "died", someone can give you more specific advice. For example, if it died suddenly, i.e., it shut down as if you turned off the ignition key, check the EGI and MAIN fuses to see if they're blown. Also, depending on the age of, and mileage on, the car the ignition switch may be faulty.
