Engine Delivery... exactly what it sounds like

Hey Guys,

Just curious about engine transport. I’m buying a JDM motor + transmission from the west coast and I don’t know yet if I’ll have to send it to a business or residential just yet. But I’m just curious how they deliver it.

Would I have to go pick it up somewhere or will they drop it off at your door step? Could you describe your experiences with this subject matter

Thanks in Advance.

You can have it delivered however you want it. Some people can opt for residential but it's more expensive. If you pick it up at their depot, then it'll be cheaper, but there isn't always a depot near you, sometimes it might be an hour away.

Did you get a compression check on the engine?

Buying it from Japan2LA once I get these logistic things out of the way. He has a pretty good prep and he guarantees compression so it should be fine. Any experience as to what the price points are usually between depot, business, and residential?

Residential delivery is typically about $100 more because they assume you have neither a loading dock nor a forklift, so the pallet is offloaded to a truck that has a liftgate before it's taken to your home.
