never said tufoball's was turbo, but I do know some TII owners who get excellent mileage because they're cars are tuned correctly. end of story

We are talking about a turbo motor you know since the guy who asked the question has a T2 and wants to know about mpg. End of story.

I personally know of 2 fully ported TII motors, both pushing 350+ to the wheels, that get at LEAST 24 MPG.... so how about you stop posting BS?

It doesn't matter how many cars out there ARE getting such good mileage, just that it can be done fairly easily if you have the adjustability to tune and know what you are doing. Most people just have stuff wrong with their car

Some of you need to read the original post again. This guy's car is running on a stock ECU. This is not going to be an expertly tuned standalone EMS, atleast he did not say so. So based on this assumption and that he won't be driving it like a grandma, saying he can get 25-30 mpg is FRIGGIN' RIDICULOUS. If his engine builder, Kevin Landers thinks he'll get 25mpg with his ports, then go for it.

I've never seen a stock ecu turbo car get over 22mpg highway, and that is babied in a great state of tune with no throttle past 25%.

Throw an AFC into the mix piggybacking the stock ECU and 25mpg on the highway is surely attainable. And, AGAIN, just because thats not what most TII's achieve doesn't mean isn't not attainable. You should be able to lean out the low throttle settings on an SAFC for better gas mileage.

You're right, an afc and a set of dual maps would get you 25-30mpg highway while being safe under boost. But, buttmill here didn't say anything about an afc or standalone or any other programmable device, just the stock ecu. Everybody wants to talk about other things, when he already told you what he wants.

Well, I heard that porting a motor will shorten the motors life before you have to rebuild it again. Also, I dunno if this is off topic.~! But is there still a possible way to get your car smogged legally in california after its been ported?

Not necessarily...tuning is everything!! Also, porting differs greatly from builder to builder. A "normal" streetport to one engine builder can be large or small to another. We're not talking about a crazy port here though, most streetports shouldn't effect the longevity of the motor provided it is tuned correctly and maintained.

My point on the milage is that is CAN be done with a stock ECU. An AFC is a piggyback to the stock ECU, not a new ECU itself I though 'mill had one, I guess I was wrong

the fact that he has a stock ecu doesnt matter you fool, he didnt say what he had planned to do, obviously if your gonna port your motor.. you want more power, and if you want a decent amount of power you need a standalone...you CAN have a ported motor with a standalone and have BETTER gas mileage than 24 mpg... so STFU!

Yeah if he never used the turbocharger. Know what that is? Obviously you have never built a motor or ported it. You just rehash something you read on the net. You are more suited for the lounge, leave the technical stuff to some of us that actually have brain cells retard.

anyways, all BS aside, go ahead and port it if you got the cash cartmill, from the list of your mods your just about to the point where you need a standalone anyways if you want more power, so if you can deal with a little bit of lesser gas mileage untill you can get your hands on a standalone go for it!!, because your not going to want to spend the cash to open up the motor again just to port it later on, when you can do it now.

Wow..thats one big pile of gay!

no back on topic....honestly port your engine, more power at the already proven cost of some gas mileage...however after you get your engine back and you can live with the decreased MPG for a while save up for a S-AFC2 or some other similar type of piggyback....that way you hvae your port, you have your gas mileage, and a well tuned AFC does gain you a respectable ammount of power, so you hvae even more of said power...

So...I would port it with a medium SP, then make my next mod a fuel computer.

besides, you'll probably kick yourself later for not porting anyway =)

If your worried about gas milage sell the rotary and buy a hybrid...If your rebuilding the motor get it ported, you already have a water temp gauge, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, boost gauge(ok so the boost gauge is crap) but you still have one. It is easier to add gauges then it is to rebuild the motor. Gas milage is relative, the more power you have the more likley you are going to step on the go pedal. It's not like your going to drop from 22 MPG aveage down to 8 MPG average. Get it ported

I don't usually get into shouting matches but I didn't start the name calling. I regret stooping to his level though, sorry it happened on your thread.

Jacob talks that way because he is used to sweet-talking his goat...he usually posts right after he's been with her. That's why he doesnt post a lot in response to his threads, because it is hard for him to catch the goat.
