Engine bay ground connectors...

Is there any kind of map of where are all those engine-bay ground connectors are?

I have the infamous 3800 hesistation problem and want to replace all ground connectors, but not sure that i will find every one by myself, is there any writeup on that?

Thanks!

The wires I recall:
Battery to starter mount (primary ground).
Bell housing to firewall (carries all body electrical load- cheesy spade connector).
Firewall to clutch slave mount (with a square capacitor noise filter on the end)
Exhaust system to body. (for the oxygen sensor)
ECU connector to floor plate.
Various eyelets coming out of the harnesses to connectors.
Pressure sensor ground pin to engine (aftermarket).

Many of us beef up the firewall to bell housing ground and add an alternator frame to coil mount ground.

VERY IMPORTANT

If you don't solder every one of your connections (solder the wire to both connectors) you are wasting your time. Solder everything.

Bell housing is also known as the clutch housing.

BTW there are a wireing harness ground, attatched to the rear rats-nest/dynamic chamber support, I have been told that its for injector grounding.

All the grounding blocks are shown in the fsm in the electrical section.

The last time I looked, the ground cable connects to the negative post on the battery. Then, as it heads for the long bolt on the starter, it splices off and connects to the chassis just below the left strut tower (take a few minutes out of your busy day and go look right NOw).

Those are not the only grounds, I just wanted to mention the chassis ground that exists for the long negative cable that runs from the negative post on the battery to the LONG bolt on the starter.

The grounds that are under the dynamic chamber are VERY, VERY important because....they are for the ECU which controls EVERYTHING to do with fuel, spark etc.

You also have grounds for the headlights, tail lights and a group of other things. There is a black grounding block located under the trail coil assy and its bolted to the chassis there.

The coil assy's must be bolted down. The mounting bolts should suffice. You should not need anything other than those mount bolts.

The fsm shows ALL the grounds and where they are located.

It's from the 1987 Factory Service Manual that I bought from Mazdatrx years ago. The full size book with 81/2 by 11 pages and rice paper schematics. Worth its weight in gold.
