engin update pics plus 2 ?s

so I blew my engine last friday night. gonna have atkins build me a new one. being adventures and going to do everything besides the engine my self, why? because I don't trust any one else to do it and it's a great learning expirence (again). so here are the beging pics, just started on monday.

also. I'm removing the rats nest and all the other crap that I don't need while doing so I came across to things that I'm not sure if I'll need or not and sense I don't know what there called I can't really do a search for them. by the way this all being done on a 89 TII. if you have done this your self then your comments are strongly recomended. thanks for looking and I will be updating regularly

heres the first pic, some type of coolant bypass I think. was wondering if I can just remove and block off or what

the other one I don't know what it is. it came from over by the power steering pump but the hoses tap into the intake and the wastegate line on the turbo. any body know what it is and do I need to keep it?

First pic is the Sub-Zero Start Assist valve. It should be removed and blanked off.

Second pic is the electronic boost control solenoid. Don't remove that unless you're installing another boost controller, or you'll have increased turbo lag and low boost.

Does anyone actually sell block offs for the sub zero start assist valve? I was planning on making my own because i never could find anyone who made them. Also whats the proper thickness to use when making block off plates?

Sorry to hear about the engine. It should be a fun little project though, smart decision doing it your self. You'll learn a lot.

ok, so when I remove sub zero star assist I can remove that coolant tank thats in the corner also correct? and I am running an boost controler so I can ditch that boost solenoid also? when doing this do I just block off the hose that was going into the waste gate line or do I reroute it somewere else?

there is also this, one hose went to the block, some type of sensor. keep or trash?

At least 3-4mm.

Yes, yes and yes. You'll need to run new lines for the new boost controller anyway, so the metal wastegate line with the tee in it is redundant and can be removed.

It's not a sensor; it's the purge control valve. Fuel vapours in the tank are absorbed by the charcoal canister when the engine's off, and the purge control valve controls how fast those vapours are sucked into the intake when you start the engine. it does the same think for blowby gases in the sump too. If you're keeping the charcoal canister then you should keep the purge control valve too, and plumb it up as per the schematic in the FSM. Otherwise you can lose it. Just make sure you leave the two sump vents open. Run hoses under the car or to a catch can.

here is a easy answer for this question, Throw that whole system out, and just extend the fuel lines to your fuel rail, simple as that.

It would be nice if it was as simple as that, but there's more connected to the vac rack than just fuel lines. If you can't answer the question properly, please don't.

Another worthless piece of equipment to remove would be the Fram oil filter.

ok, now I'm lost, can some one translate this. I wanna get rid of everything I don't need. call me stupid but I have no idea what FSM is. and were are the sump vents should go. I wanna trash the charcol canaster but what should I do with the hard line that runs back under the car?

FSM is the Factory Service Manual, and you're nuts to attempt this without reading it. Go to www.iluvmyrx7.com and download the the chapters you need (EFI in this case) in PDF format for free.

The schematic I referred to is on page F2-65. The line at the charcoal cannister needs to be disconnected at the back of the car (follow it), or you'll get fuel vapours in the engine bay.

The site seems to be down. Wait a while; hopefully it'll be back up soon.
