Is the end near ..... ?

yesterday i opened my hood after driving it and alot of smoke came out of the DRIVER side in the engine bay. It wasnt thick, or white.. kinda like exhaust fumes.
I recently just did a radator flush and had it filled up w/ antifreeze. Also my "add coolent" light keeps going on and off, even tho it jus had a flush and theres plenty of water in the reservior. ALSO my oil filter has a slight leak. It appears the steam is coolent, i checked the steam dew on the engine bay and it turned out green... or maybe it was there before ?! ...

well is there any connection between any of those ?
ANY help will be appreciated ! thanks... i hope this isnt the end of the rotary engine

well your coolant light coming on and off could just be the wire on your water level sensor on the top of the rad.. mine was stripped and corroded.. did the same thing.. replaced it and it stopped

can you find a place where coolant is coming from or where on the engine did you find coolant?

Since the smoke is coming from the DRIVER'S side.. and the oil filter is on the DRIVERS SIDE and is leaking... um... did ya ever put 2 and 2 together?

even though you flushed the coolant system...you could still have a few bubbles in it which settle near the coolant level sensor causing it to go off.

as for the smoke, probably the oil filter as previously stated.

could possibly be the block->firewall coolant hose( the one for the heater core i think) maybe be split or has sprung a leak. thats what it was on mine

it would be leaking oil onto the hot engine making smoke.

The Coolant hose that goes rom the block to the firewall sits RIGHT UNDER the oil filter.. Oil and the rubber that the hose is made out of do not play well together. The hose will eventually fail after years of oil contamination.

How do i know this... 1) i've taken several chemical compatability course for my job.. 2) Last fall that damn hose sprung a leak on me right were it exits the block and initiated the overheating problems that did in my water seals and within a week made me take my car of the road before i blew it up!!! (started to smell antifreez in exhaust, impossible to start after parking the car after it was driven and warmed up)

EVERBODY... Check that HOSE for cracks, buldges and softness.. if you haven't changed it or it looks old.. change it and save yourself a big problem later.

I think its like 28 bucks from mazdatrix.

^ I had the same problem, that hose cracked and a whole bunch of steam came pouring out, it overheated because of it, i suggest that you change that hose as well
