The end all to shifter rattle?

OK so I have shifter rattle. Did a search and tried dipping the end in rubberized coating. It didn't solve anthing. Maybe made it a little quieter. Now it seems to be loud again. I can another rattle coming from the tranny that isn't the shifter. Is there an end all solution? My shifter is apparently missing one of the springs that centers it. Would this make the problem worse? Has anyone ever solved this annoying problem?

does the rattle go away when you put your hand on the shifter? If yes then that is most likely what is rattling. you do need the other spring and a replacement shifter bushing kit has both the top and bottom bushings along with the 2 necessary springs.

The rattle doesn't go away when I put my hand on the shifter. I know my tranny has enough oil because I measured it out when I filled it up not long ago.

Do you have the Mazdatrix one. If so the problem is car specific. So that means it is probably something on the cars that you can replace. Just it is unknown what it is.

I didn't cure it altogether, but I did clear up most of it. Check my thread "Curing Short Throw Shifter Rattle". I posted it back in November.
