emissions test: 3ppm??
No tricks. Basically stock engine. No messing with timing, air pump, etc.
~replaced full RB exhaust for stock manifold and ALL three cats for the test (needed cat), kept RB catback
~car drives fine but has crappy idle (2 year ongoing problem)
~drinks a cup or so of coolant a week c/o coolant seals
~last year passed with stock manifold, gutted cat (didn't even know it was gutted), and corksport single ( 8ppm HC, .18% CO)
~Emissions tester didn't do anything to help me, used both probes for dual exhst
weird huh... I am going to check my timing to make sure its not off, but the car drives fine, so i don't think it is...

This fall I had to emissions test my car for the first time and I was really nervous, I'd re-attached the stock cats, but there was a rather sizable leak between the first and second pre-cat (the pipe was loose at the flange). I purposfully went near closing time on a Saturday (got tested 15 min to closing) and I got two young guys who weren't that attentive and didn't notice. I passed with flying colours (way under the limits, and way under the average too). You probably have a leak, there's no way you got numbers that good otherwise.

no leak... I was just under the car fixing a leak the day before I went. The car is super quiet with those three cats, but like I said... I passed with 8ppm with a single gutted cat that was on the exhaust that was on the car when I bought it... But anyways, no leaks (checked)

Damn, these "type R" engines are good for passing emmisions. That 3 ppm for the HC is impressive. Nice CO reading, I think I got you beat though!

Is your engine ported at all?

Here's a jpg of what I usually get in Tx. We do the test at two different mph, unlike what I see on your test.
It's a aftermarket Catco two cat design. Seems to work, although SixRotors says that in Canada I would have problems. I don't live in Canada so.....no problems.

no, stock 60k rebuild...
They did a first idle test, then a 2500rpm test, then waited till the idle reset, then tested again, all in about 1 min., I didn't have a smog pump either, the car just has good emissions i guess, i mean it passed earlier with no cat at all... i find it strange actually...
