Emissions
Okay, i got my '90 TII tested a few days back, and it failed.
The fuel mixture is too rich, and its also not burning enough fuel.
After talking with a few people privately, ive found out that the best way to pass it(and the cheapest way) is to:
1) Fill up my tank 1/4 with gas, and put in 2 'bottles' of alchohol with it.
2) Before i put in the alchohol i need to get the engine really hot
so, my questions are:
1) how much alchohol? exactly. (i dont wanna screw my engine over).
2) what kind of alchohol? rubbing alchohol?
3) is this the best method of getting past emissions?
I look forward to your responses and thank you for your help

Before you go the route of fuel additives, give your car a tune-up. Plugs, wires, fixing the timing, fuel and air filter, etc can help you pass smog and also improve the car's performance and gas mileage.
If you've already done the tune-up, and if you're only over a little bit on HC, you might want to advance the timing a couple degrees. This will generally reduce HC and increase NOx.
