emergency junkyard LSD HELP

I have searched as much as i could but It's 95 degrees and I'm doing this from a cell phone in a junkyard with half a cell battery. 15 Aug 2007 at 15:51

So, please help. i have a 86 with LSD (two burnout strips) the right axel seal has failed. I have to fill it everyday and the noise it makes at speed is horrible. Its Like freddy kruger in a blender. I'm in the junkyard now and all they have is a 90 conv. i got the thing almost out but the more i get it out the less it looks like a match. So, i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

1. will a 90 conv fit?

2. are the 90 conv"s LSD

3. how long before the old diff locks up at 75 mph if i dont change it?

I read the post about viscous and clutch types. it helped but didnt answer the question.

Please help, its hot out here an I'm sweatin like a pig.

an open diff does not have LSD. It is the 1 wheel burnout kind .

An open diff doesnt spin both wheels (it does, but you know what I mean), you should know this regardless of whether you are a Nismo or Mopar guy.

Well, i guess i'm taking this thing home cause there closing. but before i go I have to say that i was hoping that RX7 Club would be different from the others. Ya know, how mazda tries to embodie such a community feel in there ads. I was wrong. There are probly a handfull of real drivers on this site, I'd like to say thank you to those guys for doing their part to continue this sport and all its branches, grip, drift action X etc. For the rest of you that would rather post non-helpfull info and type twice as much as u actually drive. Fungul.

See, i actually run a mountain pass sandia crest new mexico, and i dont have a alot of track time as ive only been back in the game two year, I started in 1986 with a 1981 toyota corolla turbo in hunts point new york. I can only imagine how clean the "typers" cars are. You know what they say about football players with clean helmets, benchwarmer.

This is very disapointing because if you guys where working on the car next to me and i asked the same question you probly would have said "I dont know." or "Yeah, sure it will fit". Instead of smarting off about how you know what "open" is to a 20 plus year vet that can literally drift circles around your pristine F?.

At any rate thanks for all your info useless or not. If your ever at Sandia crest by the Dead end sign flash me. And lets find out which teaches you how to drive, typing and talking **** or actually driving. later

Yes it will bolt up. An NA rear end can go into any NA car of the 2nd gen RX-7. The turbo rear end is larger and the driveshafts are different.

You will have no problem installing it.

And that was a pretty ******* move expecting a perfect answer in only two hours. **** takes time and people have lives here.

Hush up with that noise...he was just telling you to be patient you can't expect answers on the fly. you were lucky to have such quick responses in the first place so appreciate the feedback you did get.

we were trying to help. I let you know what an open diff was. unfortunately, I didn't know for sure that an s5 diff works in an s4 so rather than have you buy something that you couldn't return, I decided to leave it to one of the people who know for sure. Still trying to be helpful

Dude what a schmuck...only person ruining the "community feel" is you. Let me let you in on a little secret...this may come as a big surprise...but most of us have careers, families, lives, etc and don't spend all day on the forums magically answering "desperate" questions.

Only person you should be mad at is yourself for not doing enough research and not allotting enough time to do what you need. Seriously...I like making fun of the "JDM TYTE" kids but you are the biggest baby I've seen on the forum in the last year. Grow up.

Thread closed, originator failed to read the read before posting in this section announcement at the top of this section, did multiple bumps (again against 2nd gen tech section rules) and flamed and failed to read any of the other sticky threads.

Less than a month here and already getting warnings and flaming... you are not off to a good start phalerider

Two burn out strips mean nothing and have absolutely nothing to do with having a LSD or not.
