that might be more of sensor problem. But If u have the haynes manual it has a good write up on it. If u dont have it i could scan the pages and email them to you.

The e-brake is supposed to be engaged fully within 4-5 clicks. The brake light comes on to let you know it is engaged when the key is on.

If it is coming on when released, take the cover off and check the connections, I don't remember if it will come on if the wire is unplugged or not. Once you get the cover off, you will see how the light is tripped.

Take the cover off. You will see a long 10 mm black nut on the pass side of the unit. It will have a clip on it to keep it from rotating. The nut has a straight slot in the top for a screw driver. Turn that until you get full engagement in 5 clicks. Very simple.

The e-brake light comes on when your brake fluid is low too.

This forum has been extremely useful in rebuilding my first rx7 1990 GTU

My emergency brake light has been on for the last couple of days so I jumped on the forum to see if anyone else has had this problem before I started chasing down wires. Guess what? Even though I could see that the brake fluid level didn't appear to be too low, it was. I added a little fluid and problem solved!

Check your brake fluid. If it's low then the brake light will come on. S5 only iirc
