I've owned three or four GXL's, but none had the AAS intact. As I understand it, the AAS can be somewhat unusable in performance driving, basically because the shocks can change settings on you in the middle of a turn, which is a bad thing.
Personally, I think it would be a nice gadget, as far as the gee-whiz factor, but there is a reason they came on the "luxury" GXL's, and not the TII's and other such sport lines. I know that some Supras have a similar setup, but they are, generally spoaking, touring cars, instead of hardline sports cars. The GXL kind of catered to the same market.
That said, the TII's are WIRED to have them, so they may have been sold in Japan with the system. I got a set of actuators from the junkyard for like $50. They're very hard to find anymore, I think because most people scrapped them in favor of cheaper shocks. Understandable when you consider a new set will cost you around US$1000.
What seems to happen to a lot of the cars, however, is that besides the actuators getting pulled, for some strange reason, the wires are cut at the connectors, so you're doubly screwed: Not only do you not have the actuators, you also no longer have the connectors to add the actuators if you had them. This is just beyond me, but I've seen it happen to a LOT of GXL's.
I may yet spiff the $1k and put the actuators on my 91 A/T. Hell, the car is already a pig, with that auto tranny, what could hurt it at this point? Next I'll have to add a nice sound system, I guess...

Wont be a hassle at all, just unplug all the electrical stuff and ditch the actuators. In fact, I have a nice suspension setup (shocks and springs) for sale for a really attractive price.
