Electronic Boost Control

Quick question: I have an 87 FC and have had some trouble locating anyone who makes and electronic boost control. I have found a few models that will work with 89-92 models, but no 87. Any guidence??

Electronic boost controllers are generic and work on practically any turbo car. There are dozens of brands to choose from. A simple Google search will get you literally thousands of hits.

i was thinking that would be the case. my question then goes to why would this model not work? Why does it say it will not work specifically with the 87-88 fc?

http://www.greddy.com/products/produ...roductidx=1567

the apexi model is only listing 89 - 92 as well.

what is the difference?

What you are looking at is not a boost controller, it is a boost cut controller, or in better terms, a fuel cut controller, or FCD. Basically on a stock ECU once a certain boost level is hit, the ECU will cut fuel to the rear rotor to prevent overboosting and running too lean ( kind of ironic they would cut fuel then, heh? Why not spark? ). Anyway...You need one of these to bypass that feature if you plan on using the stock ECU and boosting past levels where the cut comes in.

ok, guy that owns the car has that is adjustable. if this is seperate from a boost controller, can i use the one he has with an electronic controller?

the issue is with boost pressure. he'll have around 7.5 at shift in first, and around 10 in 3rd. I was told a controller would get the numbers closer together.
