Electronic 5/6th & VDI

This isn't the regular Solinoid question.

It seems that with no current running thru it, a solinoid will flow air from B->C and C->B freely, and . I'm assuming that WITH current running thru it, it will flow A->B and B->A freely.

I eventually plan ( When I can afford the pump ) to run electronic 5/6th ports, and VDI.

So, here's the setup. Cadilliac air-ride compressor w/ the little air-tank that comes with. Run the air-pump off of a relay'd 12v+ Acc. Source ( it has a pressure sensor when the tank is at a certain PSI ). Then, run some vacuum hose to 2 of these solinoids, the VDI & 5/6th port solinoids.

Run the vacuum line from the tank to both solinoids ( using a T ) then to the VDI & 5/6th ports. When the solinoid is activated, it will pressurize the component, and when you slow down, and it turns off, the pressure will vent into the engine compartment.

Sound like it will work? Is so... why hasn't anyone done it yet? FC3S.org did something simular, but it seems to me they spent money on an RPM switch (But then again, they wanted a variable RPM 5/6th port system, with no VDI control.)

You have it right so far, but why are you going to all this trouble when you already have a system that works(I assumne it is a s5)? Teh air pump is a bit bulky adn in the way, true, but its not worth rigging up other stuff int eh way to get rid of it. IMO.

BUT, on an s4, or an s4 with s5 intake, I can see doing it this way, as you have no other way to run the stuff.

I'm eventually putting on a header ( I have a SP'd engine, and it'll gain me a lotta hp ) so I'm going ahead and doing all the pre-header work. Also, I wanted to un-clutter the engine bay. No P/S pump, no airpump, no A/C compressor, no problem.

Made a block-off plate, ditched the airpump, midpipe... blah blah blah. All the things to make an N/A car fast(er).

with exception to the midpipe, you really havent done any speed mods yet. Porting the intake and TB, removing the emissions and vacuum rail, advancing timing, e-fan, THOSE are speed mods :-)

Uhh... I've done all those, I just didn't mention it, didn't see the need.

No intake yet, I'm waiting to make sure it RUNS, then maybe the Revolution Rotary CAI that's being discussed. Also, it's hard to get a cat-back made when the car has no engine.

Large SP, Fresh Rebuild w/ Atkins 2pc. Seals, PR Racing Sleeves, Electric Fan, Ported Intake, "special" Oil Cooler lines, All emissions removed, P/S removed, A/C removed, Nippon NNK Clutch (I've never heard of them, Japanese on the clutch tho', and it seems comparable to the ACT... who knows?), Strut Bar up front, Midpipe, Nice Clean Injectors, TB Mod, Ported Black Elbow (I was bored, and had 20 minutes), 8˝mm Spark Plug Wires, New Plugs, Optima Yellow-top (relocating it soon), re-wired fuel pump, thermo-pellet bypass plug.

Coming when it runs, and I have more $$

Electronic 5/6th & VDI
Intake of some sort
2˝ Single Catback w/ Corksport Muffler (Just need the piping, have the muffler)

Better?

Oh yeah, Header/collector w/ Presilencer OR Borla XR-1, and either an S-AFC, or probably (more likely) GReddy E-Manage.

Slow N/A? I don't think so.
