Question Electrical system in FC's

Ok so ive heard how bad our electrical systems are for our cars, and now i beleive it.
I have all kinds of problems with my interior lights, guages, stereo, fuses keep blowing out etc so how do i go about fixing it. THe only salution in my opinion is to take it to mazda cuz i dont have the slightest clue how to fix electrical problems, but anyone know how much theyd charge to get it diagnosed/fixed???

At the very least you need to know basic electronics, and how to solder...

Really, the majority of the problems are from broken solder joints on the idiot light cluster and CPU. As far as your lights, that's the headlight switch - you're going to need a new one soon most likely. You can tell if one of the wires is burnt where it goes to the switch. That will pop Illum fuses all day long.

Really, it's all relatively simple, very well documented problems - just take 'em one at a time. If you want to work on the car yourself, you're going to have to learn something about 12v electronics, which is VERY easy once you get the premise down. Either that or find someone near you with more experience or an RX-7 shop or the like.

Depending on if he's done it already or not.

Maybe he should check out the FSM and check that the correct fuses in the correct spots? I mean, he could've been putting too small a fuse in.

Personally, when I got my GTU, almost EVERY SINGLE FUSE was rated at 25A... but then again, my cars previous owner was a complete f*@king IDIOT.

Who knows? Start small and work up. Hear a chatter in the engine bay? Take a look. Make sure an animal isn't caught in your fan before you take it in for a new engine.

Well don't take it to the dealership for sure. Anyone know who's the best rotary mechanic near Boston? I'm sure they can figure it out pretty quickly. Probably something simple.

yeah well i guess you can say i can do basic electronics i did install my indiglos but i just dont understand how to diagnose, or fix things but i do have a general idea on car 12v systems. What kind of manual can i get for this, i know hanes cant help for **** when it comes down to these kinds of problems

The Mazda repair manual is good. I believe www.teamfc3s.org or http://fc3s.org has it available online.

I spotted your local rx-7 club as http://www.marx7.org . I'd imagine they could recommend a good rotary mechanic in your area.

Soldering did wonders for my FC. I soldered the CPU, ECU, Idiot Cluster, Power Steering Comp. and even the Instrument Cluster. I gained functions like seat belt and lights on warning, and key Illumonation at the Steering Column.

No need to solder everything. Jut at the meeting of the wire harness area.
