Electrical short, melted clutch line.
Well, as the title states my new braided clutch line's plastic covering has melted from some sort of electrical short. I recently changed my clutch Could I have messed anything up there? I also think that maybe it could be coming from my audio system though as it would cut out and have static sometimes. I have unplugged all the audio audio stuff to both protect it and to see if that was the problem. There is no blown fuses is that ultimate weird thing. I would think that if something was shorting out especially enough to melt the plastics covering on the braided clutch line that it should blow a fuse. Any help or tips on finding shorts would be appreciated. Thanks, Eric.
This happened on this forum last week. He had not reinstalled the battery negative cable to the starters long bolt. In other words the only Return for the starter circuit is thru the chassis gnd if the negative cable isn't attached to the starters long bolt or to one of the bolts on the engine/transmission.

For you clokker.

HAILER, I just woke up and it's cold and wet outside. But I'll go out there soon to look. That could explain a lot including the small shock I was getting while starting the car. (so small i disregarded it if I really felt it.) But what I don't understand is why would the starter still have juice if I am not starting the car. Does starters always have electricity flowing through it?
Thanks for the information though.

Yep, you lost engine ground if it burnt like that.
Starters always have power hooked up to them, but that power is not making a circuit until you crank.

Oh yeah my voltmeter doesn't work. Did I fry it or well I'll inspect the problem first. I'm pretty sure I plugged everything up but maybe it came loose... happened to my oil pressure gauge.

Well I went out there and battled it. The ground was stuck between the engine and bell housing. Which should have been a good enough ground I would think anyway but I moved the ground to the long screw on the starter. and now I have my voltmeter back. It only reads 12 volts but my SAFC reads 14. Suggestions? The clutch line isn't melting anymore. (Hopefully it'll last until I get another one.. I wouldn't see why it shouldn't) Anyway I guess really I wouldn't know if it's fixed until it happens again as I have been driving the car for a few days and no problems until last night. So it's intermittent. But again Thanks HAILERS and Icemark.
