I just bought my son a 1990 RX7 convertible - 115K mi - well maintained and - in general - runs fine... however it idles rough and at times loses elec pwr/won't start for a second .. also stalls when A/C is turned on. I found a reference to a technical bulletin titled "Electrical Short May Cause Rough Idle or No Start "
REF : ALLDATA #71 TSB MAZDA RX7 - # 502289 dated NOV 89
"Electrical Short May Cause Rough Idle or No Start "
Anyone know what this says?

There are two areas on FC's where the cable bundles can chafe and rub throught the wires, hence causing shorts. One is where the bundle passes behind the alternator and the other is on the passenger side shock tower where the BOV can chafe the wires (this one probably doesn't affect NAs tho).

the only other symptom is that the clock resets frequently - I assume this is a result of loss of elec power - otherwise it runs OK - maybe could have a little more power - but since I've only had the car for a few days I don't know how powerful it should be.
