Electrical Questions/Problems

I have a 91 Turbo, and I am still having problems after a rebuild. Does my car have tones (audible) as well as the ECU check codes (check engine light) to tell me of problems. I am getting a strange pattern of tones and don't want to fry something by attempting to start it.

TTT, I don't have an S5 so I don't know what they do on startup, but it might help if you told people what the tones sound like..

My 91 has never done anything like that before. All you did was put a rebuilt engine in? IS the ECU plugged in correctly? Does it start ok? Damn, that sounds haunted...

seems haunted...

you are right..it does seem haunted. I put the rebuild in myself, and afterwards this is what happened. I tried to start it after hearing the tones. What I got was smoke on the interior. Obviously, I haven't tried to start it again. We have checked resistance on several sensors. Can you plug the ECU incorrectly. The wiring harnesses for the most part only go in one way....I would attempt to start again...but the smoke has ME haunted...By the way, I checked the CPU for any sign of heat, and found nothing. I am checking the ECU for the same tonight...

Your'e right sorry, brain fart. The ECU plugs in only 1 way. I just installed an engine into my 91, and it sterted up just fine. I have no clue. Good luck!!
