Angry Electrical Problem

I own a 1988 RX-7 Turbo

I am having an electrical problem that perhaps someone is familiar with.

When I first turn the lights on, all of the dash lights (except the clock and radio) go on for about 5-10 seconds, and then go out. When this happens, I lose the running lights, too.

Later, after I turn off the car for a minute, I can turn them on again for the 5-10 seconds, then, same problem.

Fuses are OK. Headlights, brake lights, backup lights, electric windows & locks, and interior dome light are fine.

Any ideas on where to start looking?
Thanks...

I am having a similar problem with my '87 RX-7. The clock resets itself from time to time and cuts on and off. Recently, my dash lights (spedometer, tach., etc.) will go out while I'm driving, and my clock will get brighter; when they come back on, the clock gets dim. Any suggestions?

Sounds like another case of bad solder joints

sounds like the plug for the headlight switch. my 87 TII did the exact same thing. there is one wire in that headlight switch plug that gets really hot and messes up the contacts.
