Electrical issues
Okay, here are the problems on '86. First, one day when I was driving and fuel light came out to let me know I was running low on gas. After I filled the car up the light was still on and has been on ever since. I tried to shake the car after filling up numerous times so I'm guessing it's not the float inside the tank. Second, my shift light stopped working and actually works randomly. Third, my redline buzzer doesn't work at all. Any solutions guys? Let me know. Much Appreciated.

I understand when the shift light is supposed to come on, but randomly I meant that even if I shift the same way, let's say 10 consecutive times, it still won't work except for maybe 1 out of those ten times. As for the buzzer and low fuel light, is it possbile to have a short somewhere?

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
It is possible to have a short, but unlikely unless the stock wiring has been modified.
As for the shift light, if it is coming on at all, then the ECU is sending the signal. Accelerate/ take the RPMs up past 4500-5000 (while driving- won't work while idling) does the light come on in all gears but 5th?

I've tried repeated to see if the shift light could work consistently by taking the RPM's up to 6 thousand, but it'll only come on every so often without consistency. Hmm it was working fine last week. Any ideas?
