OR Electrical Issue

Problem that cropped up recently:

Logicon doesn't light up after car start, yet came on before startup, and will come on after a few moments. It doesn't always happens, and is more prevalent during cold times.

The airbag light on the idiot cluster will not come on until the logicon (or vice versa).

We talking cpu solder joints here?

Might just be a ignition switch problem OR a key ring with a LOT of key on it.

With key ON all the fuses in the interior fuse box have power going to them. With key to START you disable appox half of the fuses in the interior fuse box (so all batt power will go to just the items needed for starting the engine and not to non essential items (like the radio/heater motor/wipers etc).

So, next time this happens to you, immediatley wiggle the ignition key and see it that will now make the logicon lights come on when doing that.

I'm not saying you have a REAL problem with the ignition switch, just saying that it's sticking internally after you release it from START back to just ON. Make sense to you????? I've had a similar problem yrs ago in that the wipers would not work 'cause the weight of my keys would not let the switch return all the way to ON from Start.

Interior fuse box has power on BATT bus all the time 24/7. The other buses are IG1 and IG2 and ACC and only are powered up if the key is in the ignition and key is put to ON or better. IG1 carries all fuses essential to running the engine. IG2 has non essential fuses that are powered down if the key is held to START, but get powered up again when the key is returned from start to just ON.

I'll try it and see if it works.

The last time i gave the area to the left of the clutch a small kick, and it came on. Considering I've always said the car may have been made by the Japanese, but the electronics were done by the British (since the wiper switch has to be re-soldered, among others), I need to find a decent electrician who can do that around here.

The area to the left of the clutch is the fuse box. You may want to pull the carpet back and have a look.
