electric wires
hello,
I just bought my fc a week ago. Trying to wire my stereo but i cant find the positive and negative wires. I thought they took those wires and used them for the air flow controller gauge. So i cut the wires to the gauge, and hooked them up to the stereo, just the black and red one, there was also a green wire, all solid colors. Stereo didnt work. I then rewired the afc gauge and it doesnt work now, the center light works, but not the surronding lights indicating rich or lean. So basically i have two questions. One, do i have to detect the afc gauge with my afc computer or did i possibly just blow the thing. And two, is there any wires is there any positive and negative wires for something else that i could splice into my stereo. I already tried my cigarette lighter wires and they didnt work either. Thanks again for any help and suggestions.

Why don't you just use the original switched positive wire for the stereo? And ground can be to anything since the whole car is grounded. Run a new wire to any bolt (in metal) and voila...grounded. Look at the FSM wiring diagrams (links to FSM available in the section FAQ), and use a multimeter to test which wires have power w/ and w/out the ignition on.

Wait a sec...you took wires that were powering an S-AFC and tried to run a stereo?
The S-AFC connects to the ECU directly and runs from the ECUs 5V supply as I recall.
Or are you referring to an air/fuel gauge?
Either way, I suggest you bite the bullet and pay a stereo shop an hours worth of labour to install the thing.

bite the bullet
well, i managed to bite the bullet... then spit it back out again. I got the stereo working, thx in part to this forums schematic. ONLY problem now is that i cant find the switch wire from the car. I can run the switch and power into the power and the stereo works, but its on even when the cars off. So the only issue i have now is finding that switch wire, ive tried what seems to be every wire so im not too sure. I ended up ripping my harness out of my honda prelude, and im wiring that up directly to the car. That way itll have a harness i can plug in and out. Also my afc gauge is workin properly now I guess it took a few minutes to calibrate or something. Although i think the afc is set all wack from the previous owner, the rich and lean is all over the place, not consistant at all with the throttle.

Anyone know where the front speakers are located, i cant seem to find them, theyre ussually in the doors. Thanks in advance for any help and your time.
