You can do what the drag racers do and run the Alt. off the driveshaft. There are kits out there check on Summitracing's web site

I have NEVER see a drag racer do that.
What is the point? To avoid running the alternator save a single trip down the pass, in which you would severely over-rev the alternator? To test fabrication skills in attempting to shove something into an already tight transmission tunnel when there is already plenty of room up front and it bolts right on? To run an alternator at all considering most serious drag racers simply run a deep cycle battery (which is why you see them all charging their batteries between runs?)

Show me this kit.

No need to get all bent out of shape about it, calm down . To be honest with you I am not even sure if there is an actual "kit" that you can buy. Just saying that cause I have seen this on the net, and also a person I know from Hybriz is running one on his 240z. I will float him an e-mail tonight and ask him if he bought it or fabbed it him self.

i was thinking about the electric water pump too, i dont think it would gain much hp over the stock one if any. it would not be an easy mod i dont think. but i dont see the stock cooling system as an area that needs improvement on a stock or near stock car. im sure for a full out turbo drag car it would be benifical but as a mod to do to clean up the engine bay or performance i dont see the point. im no expert but just my two pennys.

An electric water pump is pointless on the street. There are no gains to be had.
