electric water temp

I have this summit water temp electric gauge, but I'm unsure where to tap into for the signal?

it has a few wires but I know what they do:
red - hot lne
black - ground
purple - dimmer
white - signal

it says for the signal wire to:

mate the white wire from the gauge with the wire wire from the sender.

but where is the sender? where do I tap into that?

the sender is next to the oil pressure sender, but are just below the oil filter. the smaller one is for the water temp.

if that what it says to do... although I don't think it will work. 99% of after market gauges require their own sending unit. most gauges can't read the output signals that a different sender puts out.

the gauge should have come with a sender unit or you are missing it, gauges are not universal to work with every sender unit out there.

Most Cyberdynes gauges require you to purchase the sending unit seperately. They do have "package deals" but only for certain gauges.

i see, rather stupid of them to sell the gauge without the sending unit since you will need one regardless..

You need the Summit water temp sender with it. I have the Summit digital gauge and when I ordered it, the suggested parts bring up the sender - http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=SUM-G2988
