Question Electric Supercharger to Rotary

Any one tried the electric supercharger to 2nd gen NA? There is one in www.electricsupercharger.com that is quiet good (take a look at the video clip), it costs $300. I found something similar in ebay( type "electric supercharger" and search) and cost around $100, I want to buy one and install to my 88 GXL. Any suggestion?

I think I read a thread about this just the other day, it had the same unti for sale on a website for marine equipment for something like 20 bucks?

Well maybe it isn't rice, but it isn't any more than ram air induction, their is no 'boost' it just creates 'thrust'. Heh. I wouldn't waste my money, but that is just my opinion.

Several cars LOST high end power to this thing, namely the Stealth and the 'Honduh' Civic. It is 'Bullsheet'. That means the sucker can't keep up and it becomes a restriction. I like my high end power, don't you?

1 psi? HArdly worth the work. Spend your money on real modifications. "5-15 hp increase". Ohhhh wow!!! I bet I got 25 when I addeed my full exhaust. That thing is a waste of $$$ man. Steer clear. Speed don't come cheap, so if something looks too good to be true, that's because it is!!

I may be a newbie here, but I'm a veteran on the camaro board. Anyways, this electric supercharger is a total ripoff. A guy asked about one of these 2 days ago on the board, and here were the responses:

"They are such a gimmick there is a company called e-ram that sells these thing for $200+
What a load of crap, a electric supercharger that turns on at full throttle. The ECM/VCM has no idea it's there but it make more power yea right!"

Look, if you're going to steal my idea of an electric supercharger, then at least steal the entire idea. (don't laugh ... goofed around with this on a Saturn. It didn't help performance, but the import guys loved it and thought my Saturn was "Bad-***)

OK ... electric motor is good, but you've got to run the air through a metal pipe up to the throttle body. On that metal pipe, you have to mount a Peltzier cooler to keep the pipe supercold and freeze the air before it goes into the throttle body. You are compressing the air with the fan and motor, and then making it more dense by chilling it on the way to the throttle body.

I guess I should build a few of these and sell them to suckers on eBay."

So most people recommanded me not to spend $300 to buy the e-ram electric supercharger. Actually, I want to know how much air go through the throttle body at red line? more than 450 cfm? Where can I buy a powerful electric motor so that I can build one by myself and test it.

Also, keep in mind the cfm flow numbers I gave for the throttle body were for a Camaro Z28. (5.7 liter V8)

So you should do alot of research on it before you go through with it. Although, again there's not much power to be made, regardless of whose making it.

I knew there is not much pressure the electric supercharger can make. If that thing can help throttle response, I would like to try.

you will get better throttle responce by doing the throtle body mod than using this thing

The TB mod rocks. Even if you just remove the first row of butterflies, it is a VERY noticeable change. I did it while my engine was hangin on a hoist cuz I was bored, and it is by far the best "free mod" I ever did.

Throttle body mod? Are you talking about removing the 5th and 6th port(all time open)?

Um, no. The auxillary ports are part of the lower intake, and the Throttle body, is well the throttle body. The TB mod removes coolant flow through the TB as well as removing the cold start assist and the 1st row of throttle butterflies.

Removing the coolant flow? I never know coolant to the throttle body. But what is the point to remove it?

For the cold star assit, is that really help to start the engine in cold day? Because I never refill fuild.

Butterflies, where are you talking about? Theflip? Two at the top and one at the bottom, which one?

yes it will still be worth it you will have a small restriction due to having to keep the bar that holds the cold start instrad of removing it. the main point is to remove the throtle plates and the coolant flow to cool the intake charge. i also ported my throtle body when i did the mod don't know if it helped but, it was sure fun

Is the throttle body really hot? Why it needed the coolant to run through?

The coolant runs through it for really cold climates, to keep it from freezing.
