Electric Seatbelts In S5's!!!!

will mazda viod the recall on my GTU if the track on my seatbelts quit working and i threw away the track and put in s4 belts? i printed out a copy od the recall, but im worried that they'll try to weasel their way out of it by saying they cant do anything about it since i dont have the original parts.

If you don't have the tracks what's there for them to fix? Obviously they're not going to take the S4 ones out and put in all new S5 stuff, they'll just look at you, look at the car, say it's probably canadian and doesn't have a recall and send you on your way.

you dont think theyll put in all new parts since the track was completely fucked? the wires that connected up to it are still there and the plastic pieces are still off. its obvious that it had electric belts. i mean theyd have to put in a whole new track anyway right??

No, they won't do it if they're missing, especially if you have s4/s5 canuck belts installed.

If you really want working S5 electric belts, why not get belts off a parts car, reinstall, then get the recall work done?

Call a dealer and ask them. Most people don't know about this recall and I can see why he put different belts in his car. Why does he want something for free? Because the seatbelt should not have broken in the first place. But on a side note I would feel safer driving without these auto crap belts. I have seen two break from where the emergency piece connects to the track. Myself and the other person hit their heads on the wheel and that's not fun. Luckily everything was ok, but still they shouldn't break. I would just keep the manual belts if I were you.

P.S. They should be able to check your VIN and see if it's a U.S. model over the phone so that shouldn't be a problem. I would bet if you found a nice dealer they would still do the work. Even if you already took out the old belts.

No you're wrong... Once the seatbelts were tampered with, that automatically VOIDS the warranty... If you wanted auto belts you should have left them in the car and got them fixed... Personally I think you're better off with manual belts anyways...

^^Well I see your point, but I will elaborate further. My seatbelt motor had gone out and my belt was stuck in the middle. I cut the track belt wire to allow my belt to go back to the over the shoulder position. So I technically tampered with it, granted not very much, but still. When I took it to get it fixed the dealer checked it out and fixed it no questions asked. I say give calling the dealer a shot there is nothing to lose. But I still agree too that the manual belts are a better alternative. Good luck.
