Exclamation Stereo Wiring Colors/Function Questions 89-90

So I have a 1990 s4 NA. It came with tape deck and an equalizer. The equalizer started to fail so I decided to go out and buy a deck and get with the times rather than go to a pick and pull to find another. Boy was I in for a surprise when I started splicing and cutting wires haha :'D So far I have removed the equalizer and attatched a pioneer deck in it's place, as wel as cut/stripped and attached quick connects to all of the ends. I also grounded the stereo. Then I attached the Yellow from the pioneer to the BLUE/RED wire and the Red from the pioneer to the BLUE/WHITE wire which should have given me power when in acc but I got nothing. I then connected the antenna and turned the car on. The power came on the deck and then I turned it off and connected some of the speaker wired brown red and tried some others. When I started the car again the deck didnt come on so I undid everything except the constand and acccessory wire just like before but this time it didnt turn on. Did I kill my deck? All the wiring diagrams only go over the Constant/Illum/Accessory and that's it none of them tell you what the other color wire functions are. I have scoured this forum and others and found no information about color/function. I have attached pictures if your curious, taken with my phone, let me know if you have any insights. Also I am not good at reading technical wiring diagrams but I understand stereo functions like cnx contant to cnx constant from deck an cnx illumination to cnx illumination to deck so on so forth.

Boy,oh boy. You are trying to use the stock wiring from the deck and that goes to the Crappy stock AMP system and it will give you shitty sound anyways.
BEST way to go is Rewire direct to the speakers that you are going to use.(OR use the stock wiring to the AMPS,bypass at the amps and then wire the speakers in.
You only need to wire the deck to Power and Battery and ground. You can get that at the stereo connection at the dash or wire it in.

Find your Wiring diagrams on Pioneer's website. They are pretty well all the same to wire up,colors are basic..Yellow,Red and black are power.

I was hoping that someone with a tad bit more electrical xp might chime in and maybe have some documentation or some like or something? 😅 I'm just trying not to fry anything. Also, i would run direct wires but i don't want to start taling off panels. Car was in the Cali sun for a long time and i dont want to brake any plastic components. Moving forward, any suggestions on where I can find the info?

When I bought my car someone had cut all the wires and had them butt connected to a pioneer deck. *sigh*

Got a new stereo and shop hooked it up but the thing kicks on/off by itself and drains my battery Been like that for years now but I don't drive it so I haven't really taken the time to look into it lol

Good news, I've completed the install. Didn't get power antenna to work but at least stereo is working. Thanks for the info, adapter worked great.

If memory serves me right the Power antenna needs to have a relay on it to reverse the polarity of the power to it.
I live in an area where antennas are "new found whips" and get cracked off..SO I solved that solution by going to Walmart and getting a Scosche Rubber ducky type antenna.
I don't use the radio much anyways as I got all my important music on a USB stick and also in my phone..so I carry my music where ever I go!..(true die hard Rock and Roll enthusiast!..lol!)
