electric air pump qesution(fc3s.org)

hey guys, i still today have not been able to get this damn summit rpm switch to work. i found on the fc3s.org site on how to wire it up. i tryed this but still does not work.

i think maybe its because i dont know what to do with the gray wire.
http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/electrical/6_ports.html

if you look at where it says how to hook up the relay, it says where to put the yellow wire but not the gray one. i did this and it doesnt work. (i made sure i wired everything up correctly for atleast 2 hours)
the gray wire has to go somewhere but i dont know where. plz help me with this, my car is so slow without my ports working.

I'm not familiar with the rpm switch. Buuut...

It should just be a low voltage switch that is activated when the coils spark x times per min.

Instead of reading verbatim fc3s.org, try the diagram of both the rpm switch and the relay.

If you understand how the relay works, and what the rpm switch does, it should be pretty basic to hookup.

Look at it this way: If all the wires were one color, could you install it? If not than you need to read the diagrams until you could. Then.. install it using the colors. You won't run into any problems that way.

Or you could do what someone else says they have done. Who knows if summit changed their wire colors, or for that matter if the manufactuer of the relay stamped the incorrect numbers on the posts.

I'm not trying be an ***. Just look into it more. And if I could help you more than that, i would. I can give you a **** load of links to schematics if it helps.

Ok.. well is the grey and yellow wires coming from the rpm switch or relay?

The relay is going to have 4-5 wires depending on how you set it up.

The ac will get one of those wires, the other being a body ground.

From battery [positive]: 87
To Positive lead on air-pump: 30/51
RPM switch yellow wire: 85 <-------------------------------
From battery [positive]: 86 [Yes, you will have two wires going from the battery to the relay]

EDIT: BTW thats verbatim from fc3s.org

from our honda friends:

They wire it up differently. Its just important to understand how a relay works before wiring something up. Or else you'll end up far from home in a car that has an eletrical gremlin, and you will be having your car towed home because the main fuse keeps blowing.

Goodluck though.

yes i know, and its wrong, i did exactly what the directions said to do. IT DOES NOT WORK! and the diragram wont work because im using the summit rpm switch. it has a gray and yellow wire for on/off switch. what each one do i have no idea. i cant figure it out. im about to say forget the rpm switch, wire it up to a little manual ghetto switch and leave it at that.

anyone want to buy this summit rpm switch?35+shipping.

do you know what a multimeter is? Just make a tester using a small old brakelight or 12v led. Just something so you can test the current on the rpm switch on/off wire. Double check everything, its probably something simple like one of the toggles is off when it should be on.

btw... make sure you use a relay when you use that ghetto switch.
