EGT probe placement on S5 N/a with full exhaust...
Hey guys, I just got my EGT guage from a forum member today and am getting ready to try it out soon. I want to know if any of you N/a guys are running EGT guages and where you all put them. I have true duals so its going to have to be only for one rotor. I am thinking of getting a second guage(same model) and running dual probes/guages just to be on the safe side. I was thinking of putting the probe in the first few inches out of the rear rotor's exhaust tube on the header. My reasoning for this is that the rear rotor must see the hottest temps therefore I should use this as the data collection point for safety reasons for my engine. My guage didn't come with a bung but I am going to find a nut to use for it at a hardware store or something, what type of nut do you all recommend I get since it will be installed on my RB header? I was thinking regular steel nut because I don't think SS can go onto mild steel with a welder :/

I've found something that fits onto the probe's fitting. The thing is that it is a brass fitting. I am almost sure that you cannot weld brass onto steel, right?

I just used the hose clamp style from Westach

You Just drill a hole, insert the probe and tighten it down. Its not Greddy but they use it for airplanes. They probably sell the probe for your gauge. I think of a EGT as indication only. Down stream of the O2 is a standard mounting location.
