EGT gauge? What is it?

What is the EGT gauge? I was thinking it is exhaust temperature, is that right? If so why would you need to know that? Thanks.

O ya...I was thinking of getting an air/fuel gauge in the far future when I need one, what company makes one for an N/A? Thanks again.

EGT=Exhaust Gas Tempature. it mounts simitlar to an o2 sensor, like in your dp, or exhaust. and tells how hot it is hence exhaust gas temp

as far as who makes gauges for what cars, they're all universal, greddy, hks, autometer, apexi all make one. greddy seems to be the popular one around here for pricing/looks

sorry i forgot about your question. The EGT is sort of like a more accurate A/F meter, and can be used in conjunction with it. for example a hotter temp usually indicates your running leaner. Or if your A/F says your running rich when its really like over 1000degrees you know its running a little lean and your A/F is being a damn liar

mainly a back up tool

Well where can you get an air/fuel gauge in a 52mm size to fit the gauge pod that rx7store.net offers? Thanks again. Real question was just what does the EGT gauge do for you actually, thanks for the replies.
