EGT Gauge operation

I have an Apex'i EGT gauge on the way, and I was wondering if anyone had insight on how these things work. For instance, when you start running lean, or rich, how big is the lag between the actual temperature and the probe reading it? Or is it pretty much instant like A/F meter? Also, what are the temperature ranges I want to be at?

Thanks

It's lags behind an AFR.

Idle is slightly under 500C.

Depending on EGT probe location, it'll be anywhere between 700C and 800C at WOT.&nbsp 750C to 850C during closed-loop cruise.

Absolute MAX is 900C - you do not want to go over 900C!

Where is a good spot to put the probe? I have a friend that can drill in the manifold, but we were thinking of sticking it in the hole where the Twin Scroll was. BTW Ted, do you have any other ideas for my other problem?

Stick it in the manifold...

http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/HOWTO/EGT/egt.html

This gives the the fastest reaction and the most accurate readings.

Problem?&nbsp Care to give me an update?

Nah, outside air cools the manifold enough to keep the brass from melting.
