efan/shroud w/pics waddya think??

Hey guys. been a while since i've posted. ok heres the deal. my car used to have trouble with wanting to overheat. i've since replaced waterpump, went to koyo rad w/efan and i just installed a aluminum rad shroud. it sits about 3/4 off of the rad. havent had problems yet. i'm just wondering what you think. i know its better that having the fan sit right on the radiator. this shroud although not the best, is much better than nothing.

how well do you think it'll cool. i've heard that if it doesnt sit at least 1in off the rad, that its almost pointless, but i put my had around the front of the rad and it seems to pull from the entire core. pulls harder in the middle (obviously) but maybe this will help anyone on a budget. took about an hour and i'm just curious and need some comments. thanks

Looks pretty good to me

What you have is better than just having the efan in the middle of the rad. The air flowing from the edges is limited by the 3/4" spacing. How much it is limited is anyones guess. If you had an inch, the situation would be better. There will be an optimum distance that makes the air flow uniform. Is it 2"? I don't know but at that point, the shoud distributes the load and you have equal pressure (vacuum) across the entire face of the radiator. Once you get this effect more distance doesn't help.

Then it would be *perfect*.

Right now, it is probably good enough.

I think Jackhild59's point would be my concern as well. As he mentioned, whatever is optimum is anyone's guess. It LOOKS REALLY GOOD, but it does seem very tight against the rad. Let us know how it goes -- very nice fab work though. Very clean and tidy!

the shroud has 4 tabs so, its bolted right up to the core of the radiator (using the brackets of course). it works great though. i've used my a/c in traffic and it hasnt boiled or overheated, so i think i'm set. thanks for the compliments. wasnt hard to install, so if i find the optimum clearance, then it wont be hard to fab up a new one. thanks guys
