ECU Wiring question Easy for those who know what they are doing!!!!

I am tracing my S5 TPS wires back to the ecu to check for continuity. I am getting continuity from the 3D pin (Br/B) to the 2I pin (Br/W) Does this mean that there is a short. I am getting a Code 12 and 18 (narrow and full range tps error). I swtiched the TPS with a know working one with the same error code. Anyone?

Pin 2G is your TPS. Why are you checking for continuity between pins on the ECU?

2F is narrow range TPS, 2G is full range. 2I is 5V reference voltage for various sensors. 3D is an ECU ground (F1-80 to F1-81).

Satch, I guess I was looking there to see if the Br/W wire was grounding out on the Br/B wire.

To do that you'd have to disconnect every wire the Br/W and Br/B wires go to.......including the ECU plugs. IF the Br/W was grounded, then the engine won't even run because of the loss of the ref voltage inside the ECU to all the gobbly gook that uses ref voltage.

oops.......you'd also probably have to undo the gnd poiints for the ECU gnd point also since the Br/B is also spliced to it the last time I looked.

You could just undo the TPS conenctor and put the key to ON. IF the Br/W wire shows approx 5vdc............it ain't a grounded nowhare.
