Question ECU Questions

Ok... I went through the archive and went a few pages back in the current threads and I didnt find much of anything on ECU's.

Anyway... my questions are this...

What year did they change the Rev limiter? I think its 89 (but I am the newbie and could be wrong)

Are all N/A ECU's interchangable for the FC's?

What I want to do is swap a newer ECU into my 86 to get the extra revs, to go along with the 89 intake swap I want to do.

Is there any harm in putting the extra rev's into the 86 engine?

If the ECU is not a direct swap... what needs to be changed?

Thanks in advance
Jake

plugs on ecu are different. Its not worth the trouble just to get a few more rpms. Best bet is to leave the ecu alone.

OK well what about the engine.. can it handle the extra rev's? I am assuming yes... but a lil verification would be cool.

There is a shop down the road from where I work that does stuff like that.. I could have em mod it for higher rev's. No problem there.

BTW the engine has 97k on it, and runs nice and strong.
