ecu q

is there any actual difference between usdm and jdm computers??
i have an N332 and an N340 ecu. any thing like timing contols, fuel injection, emisions type stuff that actally makes a difference.

They are physically identical but have different firmware because of a few differences in what is connected to them. J-spec engines had no ASW, EGR or split air solenoid valves so the ECU has no output for them, but all Japanese cars have a 180km/h speed limiter, and this is controlled by the ECU with input from a switch in the speedo. Since the listed outputs on J-spec engines are exactly the same as US-spec ones, it's very unlikely there are any differences in the fuel and ignition maps.
