The Rtek is a modification to the stock ecu, and if i am correct, it only changes the ignition (might be the same) and fuel maps slightly and allows the usage of bigger injectors without having to tune down with a piggy back, and also removes the fuel cut.

I have heard of a few people running an RE off of a 2nd generation ecu, and i think specifically it was the convertable ecu.

The F-Con is only a piggyback fuel controller hence 'f-con'. In other words, you will still be using the stock ecu with the F-Con.

For best results with the RE motor, use a full standalone.. For example, Haltech E6K/Haltech E6X, Microtech LT8S, Wolf 3D.

Hope this helps.

The only way for YOU to make your engine run more powerful, is for YOU to understand what an EFI system is composed of, and how it works. Get yourself a Megasquirt and LEARN something about EFI, AND get a standalone for a fraction of the price.

Actually, wrong.

He mentioned "F-con V pro" which is actually a full stand-alone.
Both the F-CON V and the F-CON V Pro are full stand-alone units.
The problem with these things is that HKS is very protective of their authorized F-CON V dealer / tuners, and it's next to impossible to get the hardware / cables and the actually tuning program (which is fully in Japanese) to adjust anything on those boxes.

I'd stay away from the F-CON V Pro from FEED unless you have some way of adjusting it...

What you describe above is Rtek Stage 1 mods. The OP was talking about the Stage 2 Rtek.

I believe you can run the RE off of a Turbo ECU, it just wont operate the turbos sequentially. Stand alone is the best bet for the RE, though.
