ecu change question!!

Alright so rather than confuse my questions in my other thread i figured i would ask in a new one. I just bought an 1988 vert . It does not run, intermittant spark, no injector pulse, and no fuel pump activation.

Would the corrosion in the picture cause my symptoms?
And secondly ..........
Can i replace this ecu with a different # to find out if this is the problem? i.e. replace this n338 1988 vert specific to a n327 1988 n/a or even to a n326 1987 n/a which i have in the garage.

Thanks for your help! I just want to make sure that the ecu is the cause before i spend money on a rebuilt computer!

Yes. I've a 87turbo I've installed temp a N327 in the past in lieu of the N332/N333.

The pinouts for a 88 are similar if you look at the FSM and compare. It won't idle quite right because of the difference in boost sensors/pressue sensor. Not a problem starting though.

IF this is a JDM EM harness though, your problem might be another thing altogether. In other words the wiring in a JDM turbo harness is different than in a non turbo n/a harness. Talking the EM harness.

no stock 88 convertible i was looking at pinouts and they did look similar, i was worried about the 88 being different than the 86 & 87 . i dont care about the idle as long as i can plug my computer in, start and hear the thing run, and not do any damage. this isnt my dd or anything however its cheap and tatty so id rather know it runs before deciding to fix it.

Since it's a stock 88 there should be NO problem putting in a N326 or N327. Since it's a non turbo car the thing should idle just fine. They use the same pressure sensor. Talking non turbo car.

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to put in a N326 or N327.
