The haynes manual, if you have one handy, says to check the soleniod resistor on two pins and it should read 4 ohms. My analog MM bearly moved to 1 with it set on i believe its 1k

1K would make a heck of a lot more sense...

Next question has to be- do you have the meter ZEROED properly for a resistance reading on the kilo-ohm scale?

BTW: the most accurate resistance readings are gonna be the ones where the needle is about mid-scale...If the needle's barely moving, go to another scale where it will move more...

yes i touched the two probes and zeroed it out.
