all i can say is race for fun, not so one can rub it in the other's face. they're both dog slow cars. its like watching a couple of honda EXs go at it. set some cones down and make a course, then talk about bragging rights. less competition, more fun factor. (unless money is involved)

I just wanted a convertible for the hell of it, but now that I think about it, its not necessary. Now just to find a good Rx7 in the area that's both well maintained and cheap

Edit: BTW, I dont even drive at all, for those who speculated lol.

Of course, driving has a lot to do with it, you really dont know "for sure" until you do it.
Are you looking at Car and Driver times? My Impreza with 165 stock HP stomps the new V6 Eclipses. These are the only things I have done to my Impreza..

Cobb CAI
Cobb Headers
Stromung Catback
Exedy 13lb flywheel and sport Clutch
Cobb Cams
1.19lb crank pulley

Yes I'm looking at Car and Driver times, that's how I base all my opinions in these "what can my car beat" threads, because both cars are subject to the same type of testing (pretty much), so it's fair. What year and model was your impreza (2.5rs, L, L wagon, LS AWD, LS outback sport, wrx...)?

By looking at the times, a v6 auto convertible eclipse has a faster stock time than the manual vert rx7. It even has a faster stock time than the coupe rx7. Sure, if you have a good driver and a good launch everything can change, I'm merely looking at stock vs. stock times.

Ok, then with those mods I'm really not surprised at all. Here are the stock v stock times:

You -
Obtained from C&D December, 1999
0-60: 8.2
Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 16.2

Eclipse -
Obtained from C&D August, 1999
0-60: 7.3
Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 15.9

So if you had those mods, you should be beating the Eclipse since your times are close stock.

when my vert had a na I would never race anyone from a dead stop. You just asking for a *** whoppin. Race from a rolling start you will win that way.

Interesting. What would it cost to drop a turbo engine in a vert? Probably more than I could afford.

Well...what can you afford?

And yes, a dead stop is a horrible way to race these cars... Same with my old 85 Supra...it didn't GO until 3rd...My rex is the same...but it gets it pretty good in second... Good luck with your race!
