Eccentric shaft

Ok. So I'm trying to remove the eccentric shaft bolt on the front of the engine but the shaft keeps rotating. What can I do to torque the shaft the other way without damaging anything? Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and the engine is out of the car with no flywheel.

Use an Impact gun.

Is there a counterweight on the rear of the engine still? Put a bolt between that and one of the tension bolt heads and try to loosen the main bolt while the bolt is keeping the e-shaft from turning.

Two methods. Both work. Impact gun is easier, much easier.

Good luck.

There is no counterweight on the rear anymore, so Impact gun it is!

You will also want to apply heat to the bolt to soften the Loctite that is probably used.
